Starting right after the race into Aspen in the
1887-88 period the D&RG and Colo Midland
railroads jointly provided service on the
weekends to allow the residents of the Western
Slope area to meet their friends on the weekends
in Glenwood Springs. Over the years this service
only expanded and became the basis for many
marriages, business deals and political
coordination that allowed the Western Slope
cities, countess and people to successfully
develop the area economically, politically and
socially. These trains can be followed from the
1888 beginnings until at least 1967.
The Presenter has been giving presentations centered on Colorado Railroad
topics since 2009 and is currently on the Board
of Directors for the Colorado Midland Historical
Society, Palmer Lake Historical Society and is
an instructor for the PILLAR life long Learning
Institute in Colorado Springs and regular
presenter for the Divide CO, Midland Depot Days
organization.
